The FCA is comprised of 7 primary scales for parents, and 3 primary scales for teens/young adults. An additional scale may be added based on the clinician’s discretion. Completion time for the FCA is approximately 60-90 minutes for parents, and 45-75 minutes for teens/young adults.
We suggest completing the scales over 2-3 sittings rather than doing them all at once.

The FCA provides a roadmap for addressing areas of dysfunction that are interfering with the quality of family relationships. Key aspects of focus are attachment, communication, emotional health, parental well being, and boundaries. Intergenerational patterns in family systems are also brought to light.

The data generated by the FCA will be informative for you and may be eye-opening in certain aspects. However, in order to successfully shift concerning parent-child and family dynamics identified in the FCA, we strongly encourage you to engage in individual, family, and/or couples therapy. Furthermore, if untreated addictive behaviors and/or trauma are identified as areas of concern, seeking out a trained addictions specialist or trauma-informed therapist are also encouraged.
